Brett Rudolph didn’t expect much from a one-box solution. Most all-in-ones ask you to compromise somewhere. The Allegro didn’t let him.
In his review for Enjoy the Music.com, Rudolph put the Allegro’s R-2R DAC, streamer, MM/MC phono stage, and 250+250W GaN amplification through a month of critical listening — from The Wellerman’s brutal a cappella vocals to Pink Floyd’s Us and Them. His verdict: “AGD’s Allegro Unleashed: GaN-Powered Stereo Integrated Phono/Streamer That Rewrites High-End Rules.”
What stood out first was silence. Rudolph described a near-total absence of noise in the system — the kind of blackness that makes higher-resolution material simply disappear into the performance instead of fighting it. Then came resolution: enough to expose a mis-set streaming resolution mid-review, prompting him to call AGD directly to confirm he hadn’t imagined it. He hadn’t.
Track by track, the Allegro held up under everything he threw at it — dynamic swings, dense orchestral layering, vocals that are usually the first thing to unravel in a system pushed this hard. His closing line said it plainly: the Allegro “changed how I look at integrated components in general and especially integrated amplifiers.” Rudolph called it one of the most complete, thoroughly considered components he’s encountered — and admitted he’d miss it when it left his system.
One box. No compromises. That was the point.
